Fort Sumter
When I visited Fort Sumter, I had already been to Fort Moultrie twice. Wow, quite a disappointment, especially after paying nearly $15 for the trip. The best part about the experience was the short ferry ride from near the aquarium out to the fort. There are a few neat exhibits on Fort Sumter, but you must stay there for an hour until the ferry takes you back. Bring a book if you're not terribly interested in Civil War history. The ferry ride to and from Fort Sumter leaves from the Aquarium Wharf as well as Patriots Point. It is operated by SpiritLine Cruises (owned by S.C. State Senator Chip Campsen III (R) and family).
The ferry to Fort Sumter departs from the brick building just south of the Aquarium.
